The Hidden Stress Women Carry—and Why It’s Not About Doing More

There’s something incredibly powerful about returning to a corporate setting—
but this time, not to perform…
To support.
This week, I’m leading a Women’s Wellness Seminar focused on stress—and it truly feels like a full-circle moment for me.
For years, I lived in that world—fast-paced environments, constant expectations, and the unspoken pressure to always be “on.”
And now, stepping back in with a new perspective, I see something so clearly:
It’s not just the workload that creates stress.
It’s everything women are carrying alongside it.
The Reality: Stress Isn’t Just Work-Related
One of the biggest themes in this seminar is something many women feel—but don’t always articulate:
The invisible mental load.
It’s not just the meetings, deadlines, or responsibilities at work.
It’s:
Planning
Remembering
Coordinating
Supporting
Anticipating everyone else’s needs
All while continuing to perform at a high level.
Much of this work is constant—and often unseen.
And over time, that accumulation becomes stress.
When Stress Becomes the Baseline
What I see again and again—both in corporate settings and in my private practice—is this:
Women begin to normalize feeling:
Exhausted
Overextended
Mentally “on” all the time
Disconnected from themselves
But these are not just side effects of a busy life.
They are signals from the body.
Chronic stress impacts:
Energy and fatigue
Focus and decision-making
Emotional balance
Sleep
Hormonal health
And yet… many women continue to push through.
The Shift: From Managing Stress to Releasing It
This is where everything changes.
Most approaches focus on:
Time management
Productivity
Pushing through
But what I teach—and what I live—is this:
Stress isn’t something to manage.
It’s something to move through and release.
Because stress is not just mental.
It lives in the body.
In the nervous system.
In your energy.
The Foundations of Real Stress Release
In the seminar, I guide women through foundational practices—not as another “to-do list,” but as supports for the system.
Here are a few that create immediate shifts:
Mindful Awareness: Creating Space Before Reaction
Most women wake up already thinking about everything they need to do.
Before the day even begins… the stress response is activated.
Practice:
Take 2–3 minutes in the morning:
Close your eyes
Breathe slowly
Let your thoughts pass without engaging
This creates space between you and the stress.
Intentional Movement: Releasing Stored Energy
Stress builds physically.
And when we sit all day or move from task to task without pause—it stays trapped.
Practice:
Stand up between meetings
Take a 5–10 minute walk
Roll your shoulders, stretch your body
Movement isn’t optional—it’s a reset.
Healthy Boundaries: Protecting Your Energy
This is one of the most important—and most challenging—for women.
The tendency to say yes.
To take on more.
To hold everything together.
Practice:
Pause before responding.
Instead of reacting automatically, ask:
“Is this aligned with what I have capacity for?”
That pause alone is powerful.
Support & Connection: You’re Not Meant to Do This Alone
Connection regulates the nervous system.
And yet, so many high-performing women are carrying everything internally.
Practice:
Identify your support circle:
A friend
A mentor
A colleague
A wellness practitioner
You don’t have to hold it all.
Intentional Self-Care: Not a Luxury—A Strategy
Self-care isn’t something to squeeze in when everything else is done.
It’s what allows everything else to function.
Practice:
Schedule it like you would a meeting:
Movement
Rest
Quiet time
Personal renewal
Small, consistent practices create long-term change.
A Personal Reflection
Being back in a corporate environment this week, I felt something shift.
Not the pressure I once felt…
but a deep sense of clarity.
Because I’m no longer in that space trying to keep up with it—
I’m there to help change the way we move through it.
And what I see so clearly is this:
There are incredibly capable, brilliant women…
who don’t need to do more.
They need support for what they’re already carrying.
A Simple Reset (Try This Now)
Wherever you are:
Take a deep inhale
Exhale slowly
Drop your shoulders
Soften your jaw
And ask yourself:
“What am I holding right now that I don’t need to carry?”
Even a small release creates space.
This Work——
Supporting women in releasing stress, regulating their systems, and reconnecting to themselves—is something I feel deeply called to bring into corporate spaces.
Because when we shift the foundation, everything else improves:
Energy
Focus
Leadership
Well-being
