From Reactive to Reflective: How to Shift Your Energy Before Responding

Recently, I found myself in a situation that used to provoke me. A conversation took a sharp turn, words flew faster than I could process, and I felt that familiar urge—to defend, react, explain. But instead of doing what my old self would’ve done, I paused. I took a deep breath, heard my inner voice say, "How can I see this differently?", and checked in. That moment changed everything.


As a Clairvoyant healer and Coach, I see this pattern so often—in clients, in colleagues, and yes, even in myself. We move through the world reacting: to stress, to misunderstandings, to our inner stories that haven’t quite healed. But when we take a moment to reflect before we respond, we access something deeper—our truth, our power, our peace.




The Energetic Pause: What It Is and Why It Matters


Your energy body is constantly taking in information—through emotions, sensations, even subtle cues that your conscious mind hasn’t yet registered. When you react instantly, you’re often responding from that first wave of emotional or energetic impact. But here’s the thing: that first wave isn’t always true. It’s often wrapped in old stories, trauma responses, or habitual thought loops.


When you pause, you allow the emotional wave to soften. You give your higher self a chance to step forward. That’s where your wisdom lives. That’s where healing begins.



Try This: A 3-Minute Pause-and-Tune-In Practice


Use this when you’re feeling triggered, overwhelmed, or about to respond to something that tugs at your emotions.


  1. Place your hand over your heart.

    This simple gesture activates heart-centered awareness and immediately soothes the nervous system.

  2. Take three deep breaths.

    Inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth. With each breath, imagine yourself grounding deeper into the earth.

  3. Ask yourself gently:

    Is this reaction mine? Is it true? Is it coming from fear, or love? How can I see it differently?

  4. Visualize a golden sun above your head.

    Let it pour light down through your body, clearing away reactive energy and filling you with peace.



From this grounded space, you can choose how to respond—or if a response is even necessary.



Energy Tells the Truth Before Words Do


I often remind my clients: your energy speaks before you do. When you begin to master the subtle art of tuning in before reacting, life opens up in a new way. You’re no longer a puppet to your triggers—you’re the conscious creator of your energy and expression.
