The Energy of Holding It All Together

Updated: 20 hours ago

When Being “The Strong One” Becomes Exhausting

There comes a moment for many of us when we realize we’ve been holding everything together for everyone else… while quietly falling apart inside.

The schedules.

The responsibilities.

The career.

The family.

The emotional weight.

The constant decision-making.

The pressure to keep showing up even when your body is asking for rest.

So many people I work with are carrying far more than anyone around them realizes.

On the outside, they appear capable, successful, grounded, dependable. They are the ones others lean on. The leaders. The caretakers. The helpers. The people who “always figure it out.”

But underneath that strength is often exhaustion.

Not because they are weak — but because they’ve spent years believing they have to carry everything alone.

I know this energy well.

For years in my corporate leadership career, I learned how to perform under pressure, push through stress, and keep moving no matter what was happening internally. And while that ability served me in many ways, there came a point where my body, energy, and soul needed something different.

Not more pushing.

Not more proving.

Not more surviving.

But space.

Stillness.

Support.

Healing.

Many of us were conditioned to believe that slowing down means falling behind. That asking for help is weakness. That resting must be earned.

But the truth is, constantly living in survival mode disconnects us from ourselves.

Eventually the body speaks.

Sometimes through anxiety.

Sometimes through burnout.

Sometimes through emotional overwhelm, fatigue, illness, or simply feeling disconnected from joy.

What I’ve learned — both personally and through working with clients — is that healing often begins the moment we stop trying to hold everything so tightly.

That doesn’t mean giving up responsibility.

It means learning to hold yourself with the same compassion you give everyone else.

One of the most powerful shifts happens when we realize we are allowed to receive support too.

We are allowed to pause.

Allowed to breathe.

Allowed to soften.

Allowed to be human.

In my sessions, I often see people carrying energetic patterns that go back years — childhood conditioning, past experiences, heartbreak, pressure, expectations, identities they’ve outgrown. Over time, those layers build in the nervous system and energy body until simply functioning feels heavy.

And yet underneath all of it… the real self is still there.

Calm.

Clear.

Wise.

Whole.

Sometimes we simply need space to reconnect with it again.

A Simple Practice for This Week

Take a few quiet moments this week and place your hand over your heart.

Close your eyes.

Take a slow breath in… and a long breath out.

Then gently ask yourself:

What am I carrying that I no longer need to hold alone?

Notice what comes up without judgment.

You do not need to solve everything in one moment.

But awareness creates space.

And space creates healing.……

If you’ve been feeling tired lately — emotionally, mentally, spiritually, physically — maybe this is your reminder that you were never meant to carry the entire world by yourself.

Strength is not measured by how much pressure you can endure.

Sometimes true strength is allowing yourself to slow down long enough to come back home to yourself.

And from that place… everything begins to shift.

With love and alignment,

Laura
