The Power of Intuition in Everyday Decisions

ree

We make thousands of decisions every single day — from what to eat, to how to respond in a conversation, to whether to pursue a new opportunity. Some of these choices are small and fleeting, others hold the potential to change the course of our lives. In between logic and analysis lies another powerful guide: our intuition.

Intuition is often described as a “gut feeling” or an inner knowing that doesn’t always make sense to the logical mind. It’s the subtle nudge that steers us toward one path over another, the quiet voice that whispers, this feels right or this doesn’t feel safe. When we learn to trust and cultivate it, intuition becomes a compass that keeps us aligned with our highest good.

As an intuitive healer, I often see how people dismiss or override their inner guidance, thinking it’s “not rational” or “just in their head.” Yet, every time they come back to their intuition, they find greater clarity, peace, and flow. Intuition is not separate from us; it’s a natural extension of our energy field and our soul’s wisdom.

Why Intuition Matters in Daily Life

When we tune in, intuition helps us:

  • Make decisions with clarity — avoiding overthinking and mental loops.

  • Stay aligned with our values — making choices that feel true instead of forced.

  • Strengthen trust in ourselves — building confidence that we already hold the answers.

  • Connect with higher guidance — opening to insights beyond logic and reason.

The more we listen, the more it speaks. The more we ignore it, the quieter it becomes.

Two Exercises to Strengthen Your Intuition

1. The Yes/No Body Check-In

  1. Find a quiet space and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths to center yourself.

  2. Place your hand over your heart or solar plexus.

  3. Bring to mind a decision you’re considering — it could be as simple as what to eat for dinner or as meaningful as whether to pursue a new project.

  4. Ask yourself: Does this choice feel like a YES for me? Notice how your body responds. A “yes” often feels expansive, light, or open.

  5. Then ask: Does this choice feel like a NO? A “no” might feel heavy, contracted, or uneasy.

  6. Trust the first feeling or sensation that arises. Your body often registers truth faster than your mind.

2. The Power of Muscle Testing

Muscle testing, sometimes called applied kinesiology, uses your body’s natural response to measure alignment with a statement or choice. It’s another way to tap into intuitive wisdom:

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart, shoulders relaxed.

  2. State aloud the decision or phrase you’re considering (for example, This new opportunity is right for me).

  3. Notice how your body reacts: a “yes” often creates a subtle forward sway, while a “no” may create a backward pull.

  4. Repeat a few times with different phrases to feel the difference.

Your energy body knows what supports your highest good, and muscle testing is a simple tool to help access that knowledge.

Bringing It All Together

Intuition isn’t about ignoring logic; it’s about balancing it with inner wisdom. Imagine logic as the map, and intuition as the compass. Together, they create a reliable system for navigating life’s decisions.

The next time you’re faced with a choice — big or small — pause and check in with your inner guidance. Whether through body awareness or muscle testing, you may discover that the clarity you’re seeking has been within you all along.

Laura
